Former Strehlow Hardware Location Becomes New Discount Children's Store
MILWAUKEE, WI – Former Bayview Strehlow Hardware building has a new tenant.
Half Price Kid Stuff opened its doors at 2675 South Kinnickinnic Avenue on Monday October 19, 2009. With 102 years of selling tools, the former hardware location will still focus on the exact same thing with a new twist -- tools that will better equip parents in raising kids in this expensive new economy.
“We haven’t touched a thing,” declares owner Traci Sherman regarding the layout of the space. “It was very important to us to preserve and respect the historical integrity of the fixtures and the store front.” The sliding ladder that glided along the shelves will now be used to pluck pacifiers in stead of pliers from the now colorful inventory.
Half Price Kid Stuff features discount new and gently used children’s and maternity items. The store carries new items from Carters, Old Navy, Gap, Fisher Price, Boppy and handpicked gently used items. Their website features examples of the items as well as a live feed from the CPSC for accurate recall information.
The store is one of only two maternity resellers in the Milwaukee area. The store will host play groups in their new location, as well as grandparent events. “Our goal is to be a resource for families of all kinds in the Milwaukee area,” said Sherman.
She backs it up with a bi-lingual staff, flexible hours by appointment should your schedule need it and a non-profit organization that donates shopping sprees to moms in the area for the items they need most.
Traci Sherman moved to Milwaukee from Tampa, Florida a year ago. A hotel executive for more than a decade, she realized there was a growing need for quality children’s items at an affordable price. “
