Single "disabled" moms?

I have been a Milwaukee mom since 1983. I still am, my two youngest boys 13 & 14. Due to an accident (proverbially and literally hit by a truck) my back was broken (cannot be repaired)and I spent nearly a year in a nursing home recovering. Now I am in my new house and raising my boys alone from a wheelchair, and home-bound (unless my kids aren't in school and can help me which means I am home bound Mon. thru' Fri.) until I can get a ramp built and an elec. chair.
The nursing home offered no "bridges" by which I can adjust to this situation, no home help no medical help.
I have searched and am having difficulty finding other single disabled moms. My middle son also has Autism and ADHD but he's a straight-A honors student in a University prep High School so I think we're good there.
Anyone have any links or other help?
Thanks!
RD

  1. hello im sorry to hear all of this: ( I dont know if youve heard about the Milwaukee Center for independence. They specialize in all kinds of disablities. Especially situations like yours. Im pretty sure they will be able to help you out. They have lots of events that will be good for you with or without your children( dances and movie nights and stuff like that) They will also be able to help you directly there or refer you to resources (government or private)I would give that place a try. Good luck. ::)
