Sunday paper with all coupons?

I'm starting to get into couponing and per the advice of seasoned couponers, I have started to buy multiple copies of the Sunday paper so that I can get multiple copies of the coupons it includes...and by doing so, I stockpile non-perishables when I find a super deal.

The problem is, our Sunday paper (in Franklin) does not always include all the coupon inserts. For example, we get Red Plum mailed to our home (not with a paper) during the week, and the same goes for P&G inserts. So when I buy several copies of the Sunday paper, I'm usually only getting multiple copies of smaller inserts, or sometimes SmartSource only. I can't believe the Journal Sentinel isn't a large enough market to include all coupon inserts (I'm going off a schedule listed here): http://www.couponing101.com/2010/01/2010-sunday-coupon-insert-schedule.html

Does anyone know a suburb with its own paper that carries all the inserts in the Sunday paper? Or maybe I need to buy the Journal someplace else (I get mine at Dollar Store or Pick n Save in Franklin)? I just want to get the most bang for my buck in buying multiple copies. Thanks!

  1. I've noticed that my paper (in New Berlin) no longer includes RedPlum or P&G coupons. They get mailed to me as well. Instead of buying several copies of the paper, you could try exchanging coupons with other people. I found a woman on Craigslist who I exchange coupons with occationally. She has older kids (3+) and I have a 1yr old, we exchanged lists of things that we typically use coupons for (me: diapers, gerber grad foods, canned fruit. her: fruit snacks, juice, cereal) and we just mail coupons back and forth that we think the other might use. I also recieve occational coupon packs from Huggies, Gerber, Pampers, Target, Happy Baby, and a few other companies by signing up online to be on their mailing list.

  2. Exchanging coupons with others is the way to go. My Mom and I live close to each other and we do this. Get a few neighbors together. It's the easiest and cheapest way to get more coupons.

  3. Yeah, here in Milw we aren't getting coupons in the paper anymore. They come in the mail.
I buy what I want on Ebay! For example, a 10-pack of $1 off coupons for X brand crackers might be $1.50 with shipping. Still a great deal if you know you'll use all 10 before they expire.

  4. I have my mom and MIL give me their coupons and I also do the ebay thing were you buy certain ones. If you shop PNS alot I usually go on there website to view weekly ads and if you go to the ad in Kimberly, WI it's a week ahead of us (They run Sun.-Sat.) so I can order my coupons on ebay in enough time to use them.

  6. I was wondering the same thing! How do you go about getting the P&G coupons mailed to you? I see the Red Plum coupons show up in the mail from time to time on Wednesdays, I think.

Thanks for the tips on getting the Tribune and checking out the week ahead PNS ad!

  7. I think the coupons are coming in the Wednesday mail to reach more people. I don't think as many people buy the Sunday paper anymore.

Some weeks there are no coupons in it and others a few different packs. I'd just look through the paper first and see if it's worth it to buy more than one. Otherwise, like PP said, find some people to trade with!

Hmm, interesting that some of you are saying you get the Red Plum delivered for free. I used to receive the Red Plum, which contained the once a month P&G coupons, with the local free newspaper that was delivered but this abruptly stopped back in the summer. I have requested the Red Plum and P&G be delivered to my mailbox but it has not happened.

For those that are getting Red Plum, P&G, did the delivery stop for a time and has now picked up? Is there hope that I will start receiving them again?

  9. Slightly off topic, but I've been writing the companies of products we normally buy, saying I love their products, or I'll suggest something. 90% of the time they will send you coupons in the mail thanking you for the feedback. I started a month ago and I've received $298 in coupons, $114 of that is for free items.

  10. The free option is to sign up online at RedPlum.com and smartsource.com and get them (again, for free) online rather than having to purchase the paper. As long as you have a printer and paper at home, it seems a much better option. I also find more high value coupons online ($1+ off of items) than I do in the paper inserts.

Thanks for all the suggestions, ladies! I am familiar with the online options for Red Plum and Smart Source, but unless I am missing something, there are only a handful of coupons available anytime I've checked - - nothing close to what is available in the paper inserts. So I took BBG's advice and subscribed to the Chicago Tribune. By calling 1.800.TRIBUNE and using special offer code x617 (which I found online), I was able to get 5 subscriptions for $0.99 each. When they arrived this Sunday, I was delighted to find they included all three inserts (P&G, Red Plum, and Smart Source!) And I don't even have to leave the house to get them. Now we're just finding creative ways to recycle all that newspaper... ;)

  12. On the subject of couponing, are there any stores in the Milwaukee area that have double coupon days?

Pick N Save has it every Wednesday. Although I'm proud to say I may have finally set foot in Pick N Save for the last time. Hate that place.

    Where's the High-five smilie?
I drive all the way to Sendik's by Southridge even though I'm right by the BV P&S. Hate that place so much.

  15. I live right by the BV P&S too, but I'm going to divide my shopping between Woodman's, Outpost and farmers' markets. My little guy is a year old now, and he's better at taking longer afternoon trips, so I can free myself from P&S at last! (2008 21)
