Best Diaper Bag Backpack???

So, I am on the hunt for the best diaper bag backpack. I started off with the over the shoulder diaper bag, and both me AND my chiropractor would agree that did my back, shoulders, and neck in. DS is older now (3), fully potty trained, but as a Mom there are a lot of things I feel like I still need to carry when we're out and about. We also are hoping for more children in the future, so I want something that can hold up for a while. Right now, I am carrying around my Jansport from highschool/college, and my husband thinks I am slightly dorky. Soooo, recommend your diaperbag backpack, I have heard great things about the Lands End ones, so right now that is the only lead I have.

  1. After my ds was PT, I rarely carried a bag with me. If anything I would use a canvas bag with drawstrings that you can carry like a backpack. If we went somewhere for the whole day, then I would carry a change of underwear and pants, and maybe a few snacks but that's it. I hate even carrying a purse, so when I was able to lose the diaper bag, I was all over that!

I would get a light bag to carry stuff in and then worry about a nicer diaper bag/backpack when you actually have the 2nd child.

  2. We got this one as a gift. We really like it. It has these straps on the back so you can snap it on the handle of the stroller. I love not having to stuff it into the bottom of the stroller.

I still use my Jansport from college, too...maybe THEY should make a diaper bag! Good quality.

  3. I use a backpack that I purchased from Title Nine, www.titlenine.com. It's cute and smaller than a typical diaperbag backpack, but fits everything in that you need.

A light bag just won't cut it for me on a daily basis. I just naturally like to carry things around with me (ie: water bottle, wallet, snacks, wipes, etc...). That is why I started having such issues with my neck/back. The idea of a light bag sounds great, but when you start packing everything in, not so light anymore and the pain begins. I am outsmarting myself and listening to the chiro, the backpack works I just need a decent one with storage and organization.

Hey, now I don't feel so bad. Yeah, the quality in the Jansports is AWESOME, in fact my sister just gave her DS her old one for school :D. They should make a diaper bag backpack for sure!!

    Ah I see...

what I did is kept a small bag in the car with a change of clothes (pertinent to the season), wipes, and a few toys like matchbox cars, in a bag, then I would have something in case I needed but I wouldn't have to carry it around with me either. Then if I spent the day at the zoo etc, I would automatically have the bag in the car, and I would add some fresh snacks. I just carry my purse pretty much and I hate that too... :)

Plus then unless you don't take the car you ALWAYS have it and you don't have to carry it around. Just trying to save you back trouble...good luck.

I did find, we just used a nike backpack for a diaper bag. My dh wasn't going to carry anything girlie. Luckily we got them for free (thru a sport we are involved with) but they hold up well.

  7. I had good luck with the Pottery barn diaper bag backpack--it also converted into an over the shoulder in case you want to switch back and forth.

  8. I have this one: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2748208

So far it has been great! It as lots of pockets and even a specially labeled nuk pouch which made it easy to find it in a pinch. I LOVE the mesh pockets on the outside so I can have easy access to things like Kleenex.

  10. I carry a medium sized purse and I have 3 kids. In my purse I have a tiny wallet, a little pouch with coupons, chapstick and a mini bottle of hand sanitizer for me. For the kids I have a paci, travel wipes and 3 diapers. If I need extra items that day, I pack a little bag that I can strap onto the stroller or keep in the car.

I think you are a mommy hoarder ;) and need to downsize the stuff you are carrying around. I am also only saying this in good fun ;) It would help your back a bit though. :)

I do have a backpack that I only use if we are spending the day out and I need to carry stuff on my person. I got it at REI and I like it. :)

  11. I LOVE this bag from REI.

It is not meant as a diaper bag, but works great as one, is stylish, isn't big but holds a ton. Lots of pockets on it, the one on the back panel is genius because it fits a diaper, soft wipes case & light changing pad & leaves the main compartment for lots of other things. My personal stuff goes in the front pocket. The side pockets are great for a small water bottle in one & snacks in the other.

It will last for years & I will still use it as a "me" bag. If you are close to their store go check it out. All of their items have a forever guarantee it is returnable for years to come, no matter what the reason. Good Luck! Can you tell I love this bag? :)
