About MilwaukeeMoms.com

MilwaukeeMoms.com was launched on July 15, 2002 as a resource and networking community for parents raising kids ages 0-6 years. As a one-of-kind, centralized resource, the site has caught the attention of Milwaukee's major media for its comprehensive presentation of time-saving information for metro parents. Early media coverage has also shined the spotlight on the site's community building efforts, specifically the ability of visitors to contribute their own parenting ideas, young children's activities, kid-friendly restaurant reviews, drive-through and delivery services finds, as well as adding to the site's extensive, full-color parks directory.

A Simple Cinderella Story...

Purchased by the Milwaukee Journal/Sentinel in June, 2006, MilwaukeeMoms.com was originally co-created by husband and wife team, Pat and Meg McKenna.

One afternoon in May of 2002, Pat read a study reporting that Milwaukee mothers ranked 8th out of 10 cities nationally for the amount of time they spend online , logging 19 hours and 12 minutes each week! Within two hours, he had the site sketched out and proposed the idea to his wife, Meg, who would become the editor and chief of the site.

"The site was truly influenced by our own surprised experience with isolation raising our own babies and toddlers," said Meg McKenna, attorney and editor of MilwaukeeMoms.com. "We knew that the needs and concerns of parents or caregivers of children aged 6 and younger were similar to our own, but we never imagined how big of an impact the site would have in changing the lives of parents from the greater Milwaukee area and beyond."

Thanks to passionate word of mouth advertising among area parents and the key support of non-profits across southeastern Wisconsin, the site has seen year-over-year growth, posting a 276% increase in visitors in 2005 with a corresponding 88% increase in total monthly page views for the same period. In 2006, traffic has continued to grow with record numbers of new discussion group members and subscribers to the site's weekly e-newsletter.
